Vinted Shoppers Express Anger About Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The company said the new system was more in line with similar services.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Platform Context
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
